Anne Colton Nussbaum
Director

Ann Colton Nussbaum,
also elected this past December, has been a "year-rounder" for two years, and is the eighth Board member so designated, tipping the balance toward "year rounders". Though Ann first came to the Island as a teen-ager with her parents, it wasn't until 1993 that she and her husband, Bob, bought their house in old Surfside. Since moving here full time, Ann has served on various community boards, notably the South Church Preservation Fund and the Nantucket Education Trust. Bob is the Executive Director of the Nantucket Housing Office.

Ann graduated from Smith College with a BA in Art History, which started her life-long interest in art and architecture. She worked for Encyclopedia Britannica in Chicago before moving to Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, where she raised three children. (There are now 6 grandchildren, including two sets of twins!) Her careers included a stint at Brentano's Rare Books, and then a four year career selling residential real estate in Westchester County, with so much success that she was able to heed the call of her true passion, books, purchasing The Bookstore in Pleasantville, NY, which she owned and operated for ten years. In 1993, the Nussbaums moved to Paris for three years, where Ann found the energy both to teach nursery school and to write a monthly column for "Paris Notes." Enough said. It seems there's nothing Ann cannot do! We are thrilled to have her on our Board and wasted no time in asking her to be the Editor-in-Chief of this Newsletter. Stay tuned. Ann, you are definitely not "now retired on Nantucket."
