Caroline Ellis
Vise-president

Caroline Ellis,
a 1997 founder of NPT, currently serves as Vice President and is on the publicity and nominating committees. In addition, she is Co-Chair of our 2004 Show House! Caroline grew up in western Massachusetts, and has known her husband Douglass since nursery school. They came to Nantucket when in college and Douglass worked for the ‘Sconset Casino and lived at the Wade Cottages. Caroline loved ‘Sconset at first sight because of its “ocean smell and incredible old houses” and hoped to some day be a part of it. They were “thrilled when we bought a two-room fishing cottage in Codfish Park which had once been a poker parlor for women”. Later the Ellises bought Bluff Cottage on Front Street, where they enjoyed village life with their daughter, Sarah. Always an avid gardener, Caroline joined the Nantucket Garden Club, where she values its focus on the conservation of gardens and lawns. President of the ‘Sconset Civic Association for a term, she later joined the Board of the ‘Sconset Trust, “the honor she holds most dear”, where she was Executive Director. She is on the board of Landmark House, and currently resides in Quaise, where she and Douglass built a house with fabulous gardens, chickens roaming free, and vistas and breezes that endow the spirit of this Director, so essential to the NPT.
