Nancy Anne Clayson Forster,
a New Englander born in a family of 5 children, and educated in Pittsfield,MA public schools and Brown University, with a BA in Art History, joined the Board in December, 2002, to fill out an un-expired term, and was elected to a full-term in April, 2003. Thats for the record. Her centrality to the NPT, however, dates back to the Federal Street office where she spent countless volunteer hours entering membership and mailing data into the computer. Over-qualified to say the least! After marrying Al Forster in June, 1964, and moving to New York City, she began a twenty-six year career with Parke-Bernet Galleries (now Sothebys) in various positions, including Executive Assistant to the President/Chairman, Corporate Secretary, and Vice-President in charge of Special Client Services.
The Forsters first came to Nantucket on vacation in 1979, and, smitten, returned in 1983, when they bought a cottage on Brant Point. They sold the cottage in 1997, for one dollar, obliging the new owner to move it so they could build their current home on the site. Nancy retired in 1990, and quickly began spending six months a year here. After his retirement in 1999, Al joined in the trending to community-involvement and year-round residency, which became official in January, 2003. In the past, Nancy has volunteered for the Connecticut Audubon Society, AmeriCares Homefront, and the NHA. At present, she is the NPTs Secretary and an indispensable spirit in all that moves and shakes us!.
