The NPT Preservation Awards Program recognizes the importance of individual and community efforts to maintain and restore Nantucket’s historic resources. Review the categories and eligibility guidelines below and nominate those individuals, groups and projects that demonstrate responsible stewardship of Nantucket’s historic architecture. Must submit nomination by June 25th.

Categories
Preservation/Restoration
The act or process of applying measures to sustain the existing form, integrity and materials of an historic property, or where historic fabric is not intact--accurately depicting the form, features and character of a property. Structures may contain additions that are compatible with the historic sections. Preservation of those portions or features that convey the property’s historical, cultural or architectural values is required.
Stewardship
The act of maintaining a historic structure at a high level of long-term preservation. In addition, an individual who maintains a historic structure or who has played an important part in the preservation of the island can be nominated.
Landscape
The act or process of applying measures to sustain an important historic landscape, or accurately recreating the form, features, and character of a historic garden or landscape. The award can also be presented for a landscape that is sensitive to its historic setting and employs historic and/or garden elements that are compatible with the surrounding.
Eligibility
Preservation/Restoration and Landscape projects must have been completed within the last 3 years in accordance with HDC approved plans. NPT staff and board members are not eligible for an award during their active service. Self-nominations are welcome!
