Celebrate the 48th Annual Daffodil Festival and Ea

Celebrate the 48th Annual Daffodil Festival and Earth Day at a Salvage Showcase at Sherburne Hall! Explore Nantucket's history of house recycling and reuse, learn about how @saandc.inc incorporates salvage into their design practice, and shop for repurposed wares at an SA+C pop-up shop.

On Saturday we'll have refreshments from @lemonpressnantucket and a chance to win a copy of 'Sconset: House by House and a repurposed oyster shell mason jar tumbler.

Stop by 11 Centre Street on Friday, 4/26 from 12 PM - 4 PM, and Saturday, 4/27 from 10 AM - 1 PM.

Though it's a dreary day on Nantucket, we're thinking about summer and the development of the island's resort economy in the late-19th century. Master carpenter and developer Charles H. Robinson (1829-1915) was the island's most prolific builder at the time and constructed many buildings that catered to summer visitors, including developing the Sunset Heights neighborhood in 'Sconset. His own home was this c.1868 Italianate-style house on the corner of Fair Street and Martins Lane.

We were joined by @housingnantucket, @townofnantucket, and ReMain Nantucket for three days of learning about salvage and reuse initiatives happening across the country.
