Here's a special work in progress look at a truly

Here's a special work in progress look at a truly one-of-a-kind item that will be featured in our annual Sense of Place Exhibition and Auction in August: a custom birdhouse inspired by the former Surfside Lifesaving Station and Star of the Sea Hostel! The property at 31 Western Ave is one of more than 25 island landmarks protected by preservation easements held by NPT, meaning its iconic exterior will be preserved in perpetuity.

If you're strolling through the Fish Lots, it's easy to think Darling Street is named for its charming streetscape, but it's actually named after 18-century resident John Darling (1746-1821).

If you stop by the @hospitalthriftshop on their opening day today, you might notice that original wood floors on the second floor, formerly hidden under carpet and layers of paint, have been beautifully restored!
Not only is the building, constructed c. 1800 by tin plate maker Timothy Horsfield, protected by a preservation easement held by NPT, it will also be featured as part of our Annual August Fête, taking place on India Street this year on August 10th!

The industrious volunteers who created Nantucket-inspired dollhouses for our annual Sense of Place Exhibition and Auction in 2021 and 2022 are at it again! This year, they are creating a birdhouse replica of one of Nantucket's iconic historic buildings. 🐦 Can you guess which?
Hint: no matter who owns it in the future, the property is protected by a preservation easement held by NPT.
